Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I’m supporting kiwis by raising money for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
When Carol asked me if I would be interested in joining her to do the NZBCF great wall of china walk next year, it didn't take me long to say yes. At the time I didn't know of Inspired Adventures but I was aware of the NZBCF and Pink Ribbon fundraising.
I lost my dad to cancer as a young child and he is the reason I wanted to be a doctor, even before he died. As a doctor I have seen and been involved in the management of many cancer sufferers, and am all to aware of the resource constraints of the medical dollar. However it has also given me the opportunity to observe the many advances in screening, diagnosis and management of cancer patients, much of which had not been imagined when my father died. As a health care professional, a friend and relative of cancer patients and survivors, and a consumer of the breast cancer screening program it is heartening to see what is currently available. Not only in terms of medical research and treatment, but all the other systems and networks that offer incredible support to patients and their families.
I feel very grateful to have the opportunity to be involved in this exciting adventure while at the same time contributing to the NZBCF to continue to help patients and families. So thanks to Carol for asking me, and to Inspired Adventures for making it possible
Eight women a day are diagnosed with breast cancer in New Zealand. The money I raise from this page will be used to fund vital research projects and medical grants to help improve the survivorship of breast cancer in New Zealand. It will also help support kiwi women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer through services such as counselling and rehabilitation programmes.
Please consider making a donation today, anything will help.
