Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I’m supporting kiwi women by raising money for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation by putting myself through the ringer at Miss Muddy NZ on January 23rd!
In 2004, my mum got diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), a form of non-invasive breast cancer. Mum had a pretty rough trot that year and at one point got very sick indeed. Ten years on, she got the all clear and was discharged from her breast clinic. So breast cancer charities have always been ones close to us as a family.
Eight women a day are diagnosed with breast cancer in New Zealand. The money I raise from this page will be used to fund vital research projects and medical grants to help improve the survivorship of breast cancer in New Zealand. It will also help support kiwi women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer through services such as counselling and rehabilitation programmes.
Miss Muddy will mark the end of a bit of a journey for me too: back to fitness after having Oliver in Sept 2014, and also the end of maternity leave as I prepare to return to the classroom. It's been a hell of a ride. This is a fitting send off, I think, to that period of my life. Please consider making a donation today, anything will help. I cannot do this alone but with your support we can make a difference!
