As part of:
Pink Ribbon Trek China
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I’m supporting kiwi women by raising money for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
I would like to share with you my journey planned for May 2018.
I got an email from the Breast Cancer Foundation about a Pink Ribbon Trek to the Great Wall of China and the opportunity to raise funds for the breast cancer. My first thought was that sounds amazing, followed by my second thought...no, I couldn't do that!
The trip will be totally out of my comfort zone, but having to deal with losing my husband Mike to cancer and seeing four cousins battle breast cancer with sadly two losing their fight. I thought as hard as it will be, it won't compare to the battle people go through with cancer.
It seems there are more and more young women getting breast cancer and it is incredibly sad to see young children lose their Mums to this devastating disease. The importance of awareness and research has inspired me to do this trek and fund raise for this worthy cause.
There will be a group of 20 doing the trek. We will be challenged like never before as we trek on remote and unrestored paths between mountains, through local villages and across rolling farmlands.
I will be paying for the trip myself but will undertake a fund raising target of $3,500. Eight women a day are diagnosed with breast cancer in New Zealand and the money I raise from this page will be used to fund vital research projects and medical grants to help improve the survivorship of breast cancer in New Zealand. It will also help support kiwi women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer through services such as counselling and rehabilitation programmes.
Please consider making a donation today, anything will help.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read about my journey and also thank you for your support.
