Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I’m supporting kiwi women by raising money for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
I am taking part in the Pink Ribbon Trek in China in May 2018, with a view to raise as much money as possible.
My personal journey started with a routine mammogram. Within a month, I had experienced my worst nightmare, with a diagnosis of pre-cancerous calcification found in my left breast. Everything happened very quickly once the diagnosis was made, and I was guided through the process of mastectomy and recovery by the wonderful staff at Dunedin Hospital, and the fantastic Breast Care Team. I was extremely lucky that my surgery was all that was required to give me a clean bill of health and the chance to return to my normal life.
The early detection of my condition by the team at Dunedin Hospital Breast Care has enabled me to dodge this bullet, and return to good health, enabling me to embark on this adventure.
Eight women a day are diagnosed with breast cancer in New Zealand. The money I raise from this page will be used to fund vital research projects and medical grants to help improve the survivorship of breast cancer in New Zealand. It will also help support kiwi women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer through services such as counselling and rehabilitation programmes.
Please consider making a donation today, anything will help. I cannot do this alone but with your support we can make a difference.
