  • The Regional Breast Cancer Patient Register which tracks breast cancer rates, treatments and outcomes providing insights for medical research.
  • Research projects aimed at understanding the disease and developing more effective treatments – right here in NZ.
  • An Australasian Clinical Trials Database so anyone can view the latest breast cancer drug trials under way.

EDUCATION

  • NZBCF educators who run seminars around the country to promote breast health awareness.
  • The NZBCF Pink Caravan road show targeting small towns lacking access to breast health facilities.
  • Breast cancer awareness messaging campaign across multiple media channels.
  • Targeted breast health information in GP waiting rooms and on Health TV.
  • Breast cancer training for health professionals around symptoms, diagnosis and patient care.
  • Development of breast health resources both online and hard copy.
  • Production and distribution of around 120,000 educational materials to at-risk communities around NZ.

  • The NZBCF Pink Caravan and breast nurses provide free consultations in Rawene, Kaitaia, Kaeo, Kaikohe, Kawakawa, and Tikipunga.
  • PINC individual physio sessions – up to 4 free sessions (eligibility criteria apply) in Kaitaia, Kerikeri or Matakana.

IN AUCKLAND
YOUR DONATIONS HELP FUND:

  • Research grants to:
    • Dr Francis Hunter’s study to investigate which HER2+ breast cancer patients will benefit from treatment with Kadcyla.
    • Dr Anita Muthukaruppan and Dr Dean Singleton – NZBCF Belinda Scott Fellowship recipients.
    • Dr Dong-Xu Liu’s study into the SHON protein as a prognostic biomarker for predicting patient response to anti-oestrogen drugs.
    • Dr Nuala Helsby’s study to develop a test to identify patients who will suffer from severe side-effects on Capecitabine, a common treatment for advanced breast cancer.
